The price of broccoli had almost doubled by Thursday compared to last week with only around 3 tonnes sold at City Deep on Thursday. This indicates a high demand for this crop early in the winter season.

A cursory glance at lettuce suggests that its price sits around R10. However, closer inspection reveals several 3 and 5kg lettuce boxes selling for around R30 per kg. This highlights a clear demand for good quality lettuce and the willingness of buyers to pay good prices for these. It also may indicate that different lettuce varieties command higher prices.
